Over 100 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Wales today, according to official figures.

Tuesday saw 22 cases reported with 10 times as many, 223, recorded nationwide on Wednesday.

Today, 113 new cases were recorded by Public Health Wales.

The increase in daily numbers is in part due to a data flow issue according to health chiefs.

Public Health Wales said today: “We have identified data flow issues outside of the control of Public Health Wales affecting test records from 5 June to 7 June.

“An increase in the number of new cases is expected in the next few days as we process the backlog of results.”

One death has also been recorded in Wales today from Covid-19, taking the total number of virus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic to 5,571.

Ceredigion is the only county in Wales not to record any new cases of the virus today.

Pembrokeshire has recorded nine with Carmarthenshire recording three new cases today.

Gwynedd has recorded six and Powys, one new case.

Swansea has recorded the highest daily figure in Wales with 22 cases reported today.
