The rate of infection across Wales continues to drop as the nation recorded five new deaths and 1,784 new cases of coronavirus today.

The latest figures, released this lunch time by Public Health Wales, show that the national rate of infection now stands at 527.7 cases per 100,000 population.

Of the 1,784 new cases recorded today, 11 were recorded in Ceredigion, with 127 in Carmarthenshire and 44 in Pembrokeshire.

Powys has recorded 60 cases today with Gwynedd recording 81.

One of the five deaths recorded today has been in the Hywel Dda region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, with the total number of suspected Covid-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic standing at 579.

No deaths have been recorded in the Betsi Cadwaladr region of north Wales with the total remaining at 1,082.

Powys has also recorded no new deaths with the total remaining at 78.
