CEREDIGION has now recorded over 6,000 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic – with 44 cases today taking the county over the milestone.

The county has now recorded 6,034 cases of Covid-19 since March 2020, which is still the lowest total for any public authority in Wales.

2,659 new cases of the virus have been recorded in the latest data reported today by Public Health Wales.

Gwynedd has today recorded 135 new cases today with the total number of cases in that county now standing at 12,018.

Carmarthenshire has recorded 171 cases today with its total now standing at 25,522.

Pembrokeshire has recorded 115 cases today, taking its total number of cases over the last 20 months to 12,757, with Powys recording 100 cases today and having a total of 13,323 cases.

Six deaths have been recorded across Wales today – with one coming in the Hywel Dda Health Board region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

This new death takes the region’s total to 590 deaths.

No deaths have been recorded in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board region of north Wales or in Powys, with the total number of deaths remaining at 1,087 and 80 respectively.

The national rate of infection now stands at 469.3 cases per 100,000 population.

Seven-day figures, which cover 2-8 November showed that Ceredigion had the second lowest rate of infection in Wales with a figure of 326.0 cases per 100,000 population.

Powys had a rate higher than the national average, standing at 509.7.

Gwynedd’s rate was just under the national average at 468.0 with Carmarthenshire’s rate standing at 472.0 and Pembrokeshire’s at 395.0.
