Almost 2,000 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded across Wales today – but the rate of infection has fallen.

Latest figures released this lunchtime by Public Health Wales show that 1,931 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded across Wales along with four deaths.

The national rate of infection has fallen however and now stands at 511.1 cases per 100,000 population.

Gwynedd has recorded 129 new cases today, with Carmarthenshire recording 112; Pembrokeshire, 70; and Powys, 69.

Ceredigion has again recorded the lowest daily number of new Covid-19 cases with 19 being recorded today.

Of the four deaths record across Wales today, one has been in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board region of north Wales, taking the area’s total number of Covid-19 deaths to 1,095.

No deaths have been recorded today in the Hywel Dda Health Board region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, with its total remaining at 603 deaths.

No deaths have been recorded in Powys either, with its total remaining at 82.
