Ceredigion has recorded the lowest number of new cases in Wales today – with just one in the county.

663 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Wales today, with the nationwide rate of infection standing at 109.6 cases per 100,000 population.

No deaths have been recorded today however, leaving the total death toll since the start of the pandemic in Wales at 5,578.

Ceredigion has recorded one new case of coronavirus today with Gwynedd recording 36 new cases.

15 new cases have been recorded in Powys with Pembrokeshire recording 14 and Carmarthenshire, 13.

Hospital admissions in Wales last week remained low however, with 13 patients nationwide known to have Covid-19 on admission to hospital and from 3,693 tests conducted on admission, 10 patients tested positive.

Over that period, nine patients tested positive for coronavirus prior to admission at hospitals in the Betsi Cadwaladr area of North Wales, with two patients testing positive in the Hywel Dda region which covers Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

The Office for National Statistics has said that nearly 92 per cent of adults in Wales now have antibodies protecting them against Covid-19.

A blood sample survey also showed that two-thirds of people aged under 25 have antibodies, up from around 50 per cent two weeks ago.

Having antibodies can help stop people contracting an infection again.
