Over 720 new coronavirus cases have been reported across Wales today, according to the latest Public Health Wales figures.

Three new Covid-related deaths have also been recorded in the data. These take the total death toll since the start of the pandemic to 5,606.

Of the 724 cases reported in Wales, nine were in Ceredigion, 35 in Carmarthenshire and 20 in Pembrokeshire.

In Powys 29 cases were recorded, and 23 in Gwynedd.

The national rate of infection in Wales, which is taken from a rolling seven-day period, today covering 18 July to 24 July, stands at 155.2 cases per 100,000 population.

The rate in Powys remains higher however, as it currently stands at 173.7, although that figure has dropped over the past week.

The rate is lower than the national average in Ceredigion (115.6), Pembrokeshire (97.0), Carmarthenshire (82.6) and Gwynedd (95.5).

As of the week ending 25 July, 521,504 doses of vaccine have been administered by Hywel Dda, 930,431 by Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board in the north, and 198,663 by Powys Teaching Health Board.
