A LLANIDLOES day care centre could be hit by council cuts, it was warned this week.
Stephen Hayes, the council’s Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care, has insisted that the council could not afford to protect day care facilities in the county.
He said the council continuing to directly provide day care services “is not affordable within the resources now available”.
The council is currently holding a consultation on day services for older people after a decision at last year’s budget setting process to scale back day care services provided by the council and “invest in new models of care”.
While Cllr Hayes said he could not pre-empt the outcome of the consultation, in responding to a question about whether the council would “rethink its funding priorities in order to safeguard” day services, he admitted that the council cannot afford to abandon service cuts to make savings.
