A SUPPORT group’s fundraising total for Diabetes UK Cymru has hit £100,000 since it started 40 years ago.

The group has been committed to raising money to fund vital research by the charity, raising over £2,000 this year alone.

Diabetes UK is the leading charitable funder of diabetes research in the UK. The money raised by the Carmarthen group will help them in their aim to improve lives through pioneering research into all forms of diabetes and diabetes-related complications.

Group member Eirian Jones, 48, from Pencader, presented the cheque to charity Diabetes UK Cymru. He said: “I’ve been living with type two diabetes for six years and have found the group a great way to chat about my condition with others who understand.

“We’re also really committed to helping other people with the condition and research is a vital part of this.

"Having raised £100,000 since the group was formed is a real milestone for us and we’re really proud to have been a part of all the progress that has been made in the condition in the past few decades.”
