LLANIDLOES Hospital League of Friends has received a £10,000 boost to their fund for the Palliative Care Unit from John Wilden, chair of the Save Llanidloes Hospital Action Group.

The group was set up over 10 years ago to challenge any attempts to downgrade the hospital.

The group was extremely successful and Llanidloes Hospital is a flourishing hospital and soon to have a new Palliative Care Unit.

The unit is being funded totally by local fund raising and League of Friends’ funds.

The League of Friends has been working tirelessly with Powys Health Board for over 12 months in developing plans.

Mary Oliver, chair of the League, stated that the project is due to go out to tender in the next couple of weeks with the unit hopefully being complete by the end of the summer.

The League has played a partnership role in establishing the unit and is extremely pleased that we are now at the stage when the community will soon be able to see the plans.
