The Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) team at Hywel Dda University Health Board has raised £1,741.66 after completing the Four Waterfalls Challenge.
DBT is a highly specialised, evidence-based intervention designed to support individuals who experience chronic suicidal thoughts and self-harming behaviours.
On 30 May, members of the DBT team and supporters embarked on a 7.2km trek through Bannau Brycheiniog, taking in all four spectacular waterfalls, in order to raise funds for their service.
Morgan Thomas, Intensive Psychological Therapies Service (IPTS) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Practitioner, said: “The goal of DBT is to help people build a life worth living even in the face of the adversity they have experienced.
“We are fortunate in Hywel Dda to have a highly trained and experienced DBT service with committed and dedicated practitioners.
“Our aim is to reduce the stigma and enrich the experience of our clients.
“These problems can affect anyone of any background.
“The practitioners within the team have friends and family members affected, as well as having the privilege of seeing those they have helped go on to flourish and thrive.
“We thoroughly enjoyed the day, although some of our legs were feeling it the next day or two.
“It was a lovely walk with beautiful weather and great company.
"We knocked the ball out of the park with what we raised, having hoped to raise £500, we ended up raising £1,741.66 which is incredible.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported this amazing cause, those who liked, shared and donated, those who sent supportive messages, everyone who came together, and the families who came to support and take on the challenge alongside us.”
Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer, said: “Thank you so much to Morgan and all the DBT team for organising such a great event in aid of your service.”
