A TALGARREG mum-of-three will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise around £500 for the Specialist Play Team in Cilgerran Ward at Glangwili Hospital.

Sarah Evans’ daughter Cadi suffers from congenital Lobal Emphysema and has often used the facility since her birth and Sarah feels indebted to the ward.

“I have never attempted a marathon before, but following a discussion over supper with friends, I decided to go for it,” she said. “I have been running since the end of January with my friend Carol Rees and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

Sarah, who works as a training co-ordinator at Micro Pharm in Newcastle Emlyn, said Cadi had received wonderful care at Glangwili.

“Cadi had an infection for the first six months after birth and we travelled to Cilgerran Ward two to three times a week for treatment. Cadi takes antibiotics daily and I’m so grateful to the staff there especially to the members of the team.

“She is admitted immediately into Cilgerran Ward to see her consultant. We don’t have to see a doctor first and there’s always a warm welcome awaiting us.

“And for this reason I want to thank them and raise money towards purchasing new equipment for the playroom, toys etc.”
