A NEW café and shop will be provided at Bronglais Hospital after Hywel Dda Health Board agreed a deal with a company to provide café and retail services in the board’s four hospitals.

The health board announced in July that it was looking for companies to run facilities across the hospitals as part of attempts to bring in more money to the board, with the successful bidders also expected to pay any refurbishment costs.

It has now been announced that Medirest will provide new facilities at all four hospital sites.

Bronglais Hospital will get a new Deli Marche coffee and combined shop. Withybush, Glangwili and Prince Philip hospitals, however, will see Costa Coffee and Amigo shop units.

The developments could lead to some shops being temporarily closed to allow refurbishment work to take place, although the board has offered assurances that dining room facilities will continue to be available.

Steve Moore, Hywel Dda chief executive, said: “Medirest demonstrated they could deliver a great quality and scope of service, as well as refurbished cafe areas.”
