No new Covid-related deaths have been reported in the latest figures released by Public Health Wales this lunchtime.

The total number of deaths in the country remains at 5,550, while 36 new cases were recorded today, taking the overall tally to 211,494.

No new cases were reported in Powys, Carmarthenshire or Pembrokeshire, while Ceredigion recorded just one.

In Gwynedd, two cases were reported today.

According to Public Health Wales, 1,830,964 people in Wales have received a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and 748,700 have also had their second dose.

As of the week ending 25 April, 296,223 vaccines had been administered by Hywel Dda Health Board, 126,686 by Powys Teaching Health Board, and 561,411 by Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board which covers Gwynedd.

Dr Eleri Davies, incident director for the Covid-19 outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “Mirroring arrangements at Christmas and Easter, we will not be publishing coronavirus data on the dashboard or a daily statement on Bank Holiday Monday, 3 May.

“This means that the data published on Wednesday 5 May is likely to be around double that for the usual 24-hour period.

“As we approach the bank holiday weekend, we would remind the general public that it is still extremely important to follow social distancing and hygiene measures to prevent the transmission of coronavirus. That is, staying two metres from anyone you don’t live with, washing hands regularly and wearing face coverings in indoor settings.

“From Monday, supervised indoor activities for children can resume, along with indoor organised activities for up to 15 adults (such as exercise classes and swimming lessons), and community centres can reopen.

“People should observe social distancing when meeting with others from outside their household or support bubble.

“The rules on meeting other people indoors remain unchanged."
