TYWYN Memorial Hospital will be extending their Minor Injuries Unit opening hours from Saturday, 31 March.
The unit will be open 10am – 6pm seven days a week from the Easter weekend.
Tywyn Hospital ward manager, Sally Clarke, said: “We are delighted that we are extending the opening hours at Tywyn Memorial Hospital.
“The unit is currently staffed by three clinical practitioners.
“Minor injuries can treat a variety of minor illnesses and we are now pleased to be able to offer this service seven days a week from the end of this month.”
Minor Injury Units (MIUs) are for less serious injuries such as sprains, cuts and grazes and you are seen by an experienced nurse.
A minor injury means a minor head injury, sprains, simple cuts, burns or scalds, insect bites, stings or animal bites.
The Welsh Government’s Choose Well campaign encourages people to think and pick the right health service for their illness or injury.
This includes visiting your GP if you are experiencing vomiting or symptoms that won’t go away.
The public can also visit their pharmacist if they are worried about common health problems such as diarrhoea, colds, upset stomachs or headaches.
Emergency services would only be used in very serious of life-threatening situations.
If you don’t know which service to choose, please contact NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47.
