A couple who suffered three miscarriages have donated books to help support others experiencing the loss of a baby.

Lina and Edward Land donated the “invaluable” books to the Bronglais maternity ward after their daughter Poppy Dorothea May was stillborn in 2018.

This tragedy in addition to two early pregnancy losses inspired the couple to give back to their local maternity ward.

Lina explained: “After experiencing the third miscarriage we got pregnant again with our first living child, and as you can imagine pregnancy after multiple losses was a journey filled with anxiety.

“We received fantastic antenatal care with extra scans and weekly midwife appointments checking baby’s heartbeat.

“Alongside that, I was receiving bereavement counselling from a charity called Cruse as we were still grieving the loss of Poppy, and I was doing everything I could to manage anxiety between the counselling sessions and weekly meetings with our wonderful midwife Rhiannon Edwards.”

Commenting on their decision to donate books, Lina said: “Reading books about pregnancy after loss was one of the things that helped me cope.

“I read a few books that I found particularly helpful, and these are the books that we decided to donate on the one-year anniversary of Poppy’s death."
