A MACHYNLLETH Hospital physiotherapist is aiming to return to Lesotho with vital equipment after two previous successful visits.
Jan Jeffrey has made trips to Lesotho in 2016 and 2017 as part of a programme by the Dolen Cymru charity which provides links between Wales and Lesotho, and is already planning her third visit which she hopes will see her take out a range of physiotherapy equipment thanks to fundraising efforts locally.
Jan has already seen colleagues at the hospital go on a sponsored walk up Cader Idris to help raise money and she said she will be holding a range of fundraising events to help.
The money raised would be put toward buying equipment for the Phelisanong Children’s Centre, a centre which Jan worked at during her previous visits to Lesotho.
She said: “I went out to Lesotho for 10 weeks in 2016 as part of the Wales for Africa programme, working with children with disabilities.
“This year I went back, for 11 weeks, supported by the Dolen Cymru link. I worked at the two children’s centres I spent most time with in 2016 – Saint Angela’s and Phelisanong.
“As I was working with the same children I was able to take equipment with me that I knew they needed, including special walkers and supportive footwear. Dolen arranged a charity flight for me so I took over 100kg of equipment on the flight.
“Using the walkers, some of the children were able to fulfil a dream of walking to school."
