SOME frontline services may be suspended as Ceredigion says increasing numbers of Covid cases are putting pressure on resources.

In a statement released by Ceredigion County Council this morning, it says that the new Omicron variant is spreading faster than all other variants of Covid-19 and to protect frontline public services and keep disruption to a minimum, ‘we all need to take responsibility and play our part in keeping Ceredigion safe.’

The council said: “Cases of Covid-19 are starting to creep up again in Ceredigion. This means more people are having to self-isolate which means that our public services are facing increasing challenges.

“We’re putting measures in place to protect the services we provide to the most vulnerable in the county.

“This means that, where necessary, we are making arrangements to re-deploy staff to critical services.

“This will mean prioritising services and suspending others at short notice should the need arise.”

As well as getting vaccinated and booster jabs, the council is calling on people to ‘Flow before you go’ – meaning taking a lateral flow tests before going out – whether that’s to a Christmas party; Christmas shopping; visiting friends or family; going to any crowded or busy place or before travelling.

You can pick up lateral flow tests for free from pharmacies (no booking needed) or by ordering online for home delivery from GOV.UK.
