As Ysbyty Gwynedd continues to care for 39 patients with Covid-19 linked to an outbreak at the hospital, Arfon MS Sian Gwenllian said she is thinking of those affected by the crisis.

Warning that the situation “continues to be very serious”, the MS added that the hospital’s measures to reduce the spread are reassuring.

She said: “The situation at Ysbyty Gwynedd continues to be very serious and I am thinking of all the families affected by the outbreak and all the staff who are doing their utmost to provide the necessary care under such challenging circumstances.

“I also sympathise greatly with all those who’ve had their scheduled treatments or appointments cancelled and are suffering as a result.

“It is reassuring to understand that the health board is confident that the measures in place will not pose a ‘significant increasing risk’ in the incidence rates in our local communities.”

As part of her work the local politician holds regular virtual meetings with the health board, and she urges local people to contact her via e-mail ([email protected]u) with any concerns.

“I am regularly seeking assurances that they are responding robustly to the ongoing challenges posed by Covid.

"I will continue to scrutinise their work in an effective manner and if you wish me to raise any particular concerns, please do so.”
