A PROCESSION of knights have followed in the footsteps of Owain Glyndwr and walked more than 40 miles to help raise money for charity.

Last weekend representatives of The Ardudwy Knights, medieval re-enactors from Harlech, marched a gruelling 44-mile trek from Harlech Castle to Conwy Castle over three days, the same route taken by Owain Glyndwr six centuries ago.

The team spent the entire walk in medieval clothing signifying some of Wales’ most prestigious warriors including Dafydd Williams (Iorwerth Earl of Mon) Aron Humphreys (Sir Jacques de Guerande) and Owain Jones (Owain ap Glyn).

On Sunday morning the knights were joined by 271 squadron Air Cadets.

Speaking after the successful completion of their hike, Bethan Gloster, dressed as Lady Jayne, said: “Well, we stormed the castle.

“It’s taken 44 miles and two days to get here but we’ve done it.

“Very proud of my knights today.

“We’ve been raising money for Nightingale House Hospice, a fantastic charity providing specialist palliative care services to patients and their families across North Wales.”

The re-enactors will continue to raise money during their shows throughout the summer.
