CONSCIENTIOUS litter-pickers in Dolgellau have been praised by councillors.

A total of 20 local children came to support a Tidy Towns scheme at Marian Dolgellau and take part in a litter picking event, as recently reported by the Cambrian News.

Kitted up in their new high-visibility jackets, pickers and gloves, the rainbow, brownies and guides groups got together with 14 parents and volunteers to spruce up this historic and well used area of the town.

The industrious group of children, who were working towards a community badge, collected an impressive total 20 bags of litter.

They were later rewarded for their efforts with drink and biscuits at the pavilion.

Gwynedd Council’s cabinet member for the environment, John Wynn Jones, said: “I’m very pleased to see that Dolgellau’s residents and especially the town’s young folk are showing an interest in civic pride.

“Dolgellau is one of Gwynedd’s most picturesque market towns and I’m pleased that Tidy Towns has helped its residents keep it that way.”
