Coffee morning
CYTUN, Churches Together, is holding a coffee morning for the Llanidloes Refugee Fund, at Chatwood, Longbridge Street, on 16 January from 10am to 12.30pm. There will be crumpets and toast and cakes for sale.
David Stephenson lectures
FIVE lectures by Dr David Stephenson, on Mediaeval Empires Of West Africa are being held in the Royal Head (The Kings) on Tuesdays, 7pm to 9pm, and Wednesdays, 2pm to 4pm, in the Mount Inn starting 13 January.
Treorchy Male Voice Choir
THE Rotary Club presents the Treorchy Male Voice Choir, with guest soloist Jessica Robinson, on Saturday 5 March, 7pm at China Street Chapel. Tickets on sale at Woosman and Davies Newsagents.
Wool appeal
KNITTING wool is wanted to make blankets for rescue dogs and cats. She thanked Jackie, Jenny, Ailsa, Sally, Dianne, Yvonne and Dwyn-wyn, Tina for calling, Liz and Helen for doing the bar, the Rugby Club for providing the room, Only Legs Aloud for providing tea and coffee and biscuits and Helen Woosnam for doing the posters.
Poppy appeal
THE LOCAL branch of the Women’s section of the British Legion and the poppy appeal organiser has thanked everyone who helped to raise £3,683. Special thanks were given to the army cadets for the street col-lection, Trudy for her range of activities, the Co-Op who allowed the volunteers two days to collect, the house to house collectors, Francis, Carolyn and Lisa and all the premises who had boxes. Finally, thanks were given to everyone who gave so generously to the boxes, bought the items, or given in the two church collections.
