Rotary Club
THE ROTARY Club of Llanidloes braved the weather prior to Christmas to carry out a street collection. All of the money raised was in aid of the poor families devastated by the recent and ongoing floods in Cumbria, and the weather was a bleak reminder of what they must be enduring. Despite the conditions, many people donated and Llanidloes Rotary Club were pleased to confirm that £415.89 was raised. This money was sent straight to the district of which Llanidloes Rotary Club is part of, and coupled with all the other clubs within the district, a sum of over £7,000 was raised. This combined effort throughout the country has seen an immediate financial response to those people who need it most. The Rotary Club of Keswick has thanked Llanidloes for their generosity, and mentioned that both the Rotary Club and Keswick Lions Club have united to ensure a structured and rapid goal is achieved. Llanidloes Rotary Club would like to pass on this thank you to the community whose generosity is already helping our neighbours in Cumbria. The Rotary Club conducted their first business meeting of the year in the presence of assistant district governor Bob Maskell. President Peter McCready summarised the club’s aims for the next six months and also welcomed the club’s newest member David Utting. ADG Bob Maskell congratulated the club on its achievements and along with fellow Rotarians welcomed David into the fold. The Rotary Club of Llanidloes are proud to present the Treorchy Male Voice Choir.
