Sadly, lockdown seems to be having a seriously bad impact on many Pwllhelians’ ability to answer questions on significant local events.
Some stalwarts of the Pwllheli & District Quiz League (founded 1985) admit ignorance about the actual location of the 1895 National Eisteddfod at Pwllheli. They are able to provide chapter and verse about the 1925 and 1955 Nationals at Pwllheli, but….
Another amazing “blank” is the approximate date of the disappearance of the pair of RAF bombing targets in the Pwllheli part of Cardigan Bay.Hopefully, some fairly local e.g Harlech, Criccieth - readers’ wisdom will rear its head in the Cambrian News. Anyone able to swim out to “the target” in the 1950s and 1960s was regarded as a virtual “Olympian”?
