Strictly Mach

STRICTLY Mach will be holding a tea dance afternoon at the bowling club on Sunday, 6 December, from 3pm to 5pm. Latin, ballroom, sequence and line dancing will be led by Fran Jackson and Jane Hoy. Pensioners’ Lunch

THE TOWN council will be hosting this year’s pensioners’ Christmas lunch at Plas Machynlleth on Monday, 14 December, from noon to 3pm. To reserve your free place, call 01654 702571. Closing date is Monday, 7 December.

Missing people concert

TO REMEMBER all those who are missing to us this Christmas, a missing people carol concert will be held at St Peter’s Church on Thursday, 10 December, at 7pm. This concert is part of the Missing People’s Home for Christmas appeal.Proceeds from tickets (£5 each) will go to the appeal.

Craft fair

A CHRISTMAS craft fair will be held at the bowling club on Saturday, 5 December, from 10.30am to 2.30pm. On hand to purchase will be felted art, jewellery, bags and quilts, cakes, knitwear and cards.

Carers support group

WHEN you are caring for some-one, it can be all too easy to ignore your own needs and to forget that you matter too.If you feel lonely and isolated and find caring stressful, come along to the local carers group.The next sessions are on Thursday, 26 November, and 10 Decem-ber from 11am to 1pm at the Day Centre in Forge Road.Dates for 2016 to be confirmed.Replacement care may be ar-ranged by Crossroads Care Mid & West Wales. Stand Up To Cancer

MACHYNLLETH Rugby Club has raised over £3,000 for charity.The club held a fund-raising event for Stand Up To Cancer and raised £3,088.50 (see picture).There were a variety of events throughout the night including two auctions, a raffle with a large amount of generous donations, an un-hook a bra challenge.Some of the rugby players, both past and present, got together to produce a charity calendar which is currently on sale and there were two lovely assistants helping the host of the evening.Also, some of the committee members of the club were in a choir for the finale, with a disco to end the night on a high.“We had a great deal of support on the night and people turned out to help us raise money and raise awareness for a well known cause,” said events co-ordinator Emily Booth.“As a club we would like to thank everybody who turned out on the night and helped support the event, but a special thanks goes to all involved or helped out or donated items in any way.”

CAMAD

DOROTHY Foster-Edwards organised a coffee morning in support of Community Action Machynlleth and District recently and, despite the very inclement weather, raised £65.Speaking on behalf of CAMAD, Linda Hayward said: “We are very grateful to Dorothy for her kindness in organising the coffee morning. “Our thanks also go to those who helped and supported the event at St Peter’s Church and Parish office on Wednesday, 18 November.”
