A 10-YEAR-OLD Llanidloes pupil has raised £700 for Pancreatic Cancer Action after taking to the water for an Aqua Marathon.

Maisie Earp from Cwmbelan, who is a pupil at Llanidloes Primary School, completed the challenge in memory of her grandfather, Cameron, who lost his life to pancreatic cancer in March 2016.

Her swim was part of the charity’s Swim for Survival fundraising campaign.

Maisie, a member of Newtown Swimming Club, said: “My Aqua Marathon involved swimming 26.2 miles, which took me 14 weeks.

“It felt good to do something in memory of Grandie and to raise money for a cause that I care about. Thank you so much to everybody who has sponsored me. When I started I was hoping to raise £150, so to raise £700 is awesome.”

Ali Stunt, founder and chief executive of Pancreatic Cancer Action, said: “We are thrilled to hear that Maisie has not only completed her Aqua Marathon in memory of her Grandie but has also raised a phenomenal £700 for Pancreatic Cancer Action."
