A MUSEUM on the Llyn Peninsula has raised over £400, to be split between two very good causes.

On 9 October, Llyn Maritime Museum in Nefyn raised £432 through shop sales and the proceeds of a Macmillan coffee afternoon.

“We used the inside of the museum and a gazebo outside for visitors to enjoy their beverage and cake sheltered from the showers,” said museum heritage officer, Jina Gwyrfai.

“Inside, we had a raffle and shop sale.

“Overall, 43 people came, and we raised £432, with over half going to Macmillan.

“Special thanks to everyone who helped out in any way, by baking a cake, helping to set up, volunteering on the day, or any contribution to the day.”

The rest of the money will go towards the museum, where staff are busy getting ready for next week’s nationwide Welsh Museums Festival.

Speaking about the maritime museum’s involvement on Wednesday, 27 October, Jina said: “ We have held quite a few events for families with Antur Natur and look forward to this latest fun and informative day learning about local history, the environment and nature, open in the open air.

“The day begins early. At 9am we will walk down to the beach for low tide, investigating what the tide has brought onto the shores. We’ll hear about maritime history before returning to the museum with our ‘hunt’ items.

“Bring a packed lunch as there will be other activities after the picnic, with the session finishing by 2pm.”

The event is suitable for 7-11years old, or younger children if accompanied by an adult.

Tickets cost £2 per child and should be booked by emailing Jina, [email protected], or calling 01758 721 313 or 07917700851.
