A CAPEL Seion woman will be sleeping rough on the streets of Cardiff for one night next month to raise money for young homeless people in Wales.
Swapping her bed for a sleeping bag on 10 November, former Penglais School pupil Melanie Owen, 21, will be taking part in the Cardiff Sleep Out to raise money for the Llamau charity, which helps young homeless people in need.
Speaking to the Cambrian News this week, Melanie, who studies law and French at Cardiff University, said she also wants raise awareness of the plight of the nearly 300 young homeless people living on the streets of Wales.
“While sleeping out in Cardiff for a night will in no way replicate the distress and suffering experienced by those with no home to return to, I want to do all that I can to raise awareness for the issue of homelessness in Wales,” said Melanie, who will be taking part in the sleep out alongside her friend Katie.
