THE ‘humbled’ family of a 38-year-old father-of-two who passed away last year has thanked the local community for all their “warmth, kindness and generosity” during such an emotional period.
Last weekend, the Kristian Ley Roberts Memorial Game took place in Porthmadog, raising an impressive £1,500 for charity.
The match, played between the 1981-84 Porthmadog Youth Team and Llanystumdwy Legends, commemorated the life of Tremadog chef Kristian Roberts, who died last September whilst cycling to work, devastating the local community.
He had been found unconscious on the roadside of the A487, between Minffordd and Penrhyndeudraeth, and is believed to have passed away of natural causes despite being in “excellent” physical health.
The father of two young children, Inti Quimey and Merni Ley, he worked as a pastry chef at Portmeirion and was recognised as a dedicated worker and family man.
As Kristian was a keen sports fan, his father Stanley felt that a football match would be a fitting tribute to his much-missed son.
“The whole day went really well, there was an excellent turnout and we raised a lot of money in Kristian’s memory,” Stanley told the Cambrian News.
