Machynlleth-based charity Advice Mid Wales (AMW) has appointed a new general manager as Cyril Breeze Evans has now retired having led and developed the charity over the last five years.
AMW has been running since 1983 using advisors to help and support people in coping with, and overcoming many of the problems faced in everyday living including debt, welfare benefits, housing, employment, consumer, relationships and pension issues.
Michelle Miller was previously an Investigator and Community Relations Officer with Thames Valley Police.
Michelle’s priority is to continue to identify and secure funding to develop the support services offered and lead AMW’s dedicated team of employees and volunteers.
Bill McCann, vice chairman of the trustees said: "Michelle’s appointment strengthens our ability to meet the needs of a growing number of people throughout mid Wales who come to us for help and advice.
"Her previous experience, knowledge and understanding of these needs will greatly benefit AMW’s customers, clients and volunteers and clients."
Michelle said: "My experience and expertise in working directly with a wide array of communities each with their own challenges, has given me a unique insight and skill set that will support and assist us to match the needs of the community served by Advice Mid Wales.

"It is important that people know there is help available that is free, practical, impartial and confidential."
"My predecessor has done a fantastic job of raising funds and the profile of the service and I want to build on this good work.
"Our team of highly trained employees and volunteers are committed to ensuring that people receive the timely help and guidance they need."
The service offers drop-in sessions held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10.30am and 2.30pm at their offices in the Care Centre, Forge Road, Machynlleth or phone 01654 700192.
