A PODCAST promoting the Cambrian Mountains as a tourist destination has been released.

The Cambrian Mountains Podcast, produced by the Cambrian Mountains Initiative in partnership with Visit Wales and travel journalist and podcaster, Portia Jones, hopes to raise awareness of the Cambrian Mountains as a tourist destination.

For the podcast, Portia visited local people, from Ceredigion, Powys, and Carmarthenshire, to find out more about their love for the area.

Project manager for the Cambrian Mountains Initiative, Dafydd Wyn Morgan, said: “The Cambrian Mountains podcast is something you can listen to whilst driving in the car, out walking the hills, or in the comfort of your own home.

“The local voices of community members make this a must-listen to podcast. Their stories of working and living in this area of astounding natural beauty will inspire many to visit.

“Most definitely, some people will learn something new by listening to this podcast. It’s informative and entertaining.”

The 40-minute episode include segments on heritage, trails and nature, “with a sprinkling of local produce and dark skies”.

Cardiff based Portia, who has her own podcast Travel Goals, produced the episode with her husband, Luke Jones.

Portia said they have visited the area multiple times: “I love Rhayader, it’s such a nice market town. I love outdoor adventures, hiking, biking, outdoor swimming, I find it’s a really nice base to explore those things because it’s at the gateway to the Elan Valley.

“There’s so many lovely communities, people are really friendly and warm. We’re really happy to share their stories of the area, we had so much audio to go through and it was so hard to edit it down to create this story.

“It’s one of the lesser known regions of Wales that deserves a lot of love.”

You can listen to the podcast on Podbean, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Podcast.
