Madam,
Regarding your story, Mobile waste education van costs £62,000 to run, about a former mobile library vehicle now being used to promote better waste management by the public.
The investment is over five years and the costs will be covered by a Welsh Government grant. It is good value for money when you consider Plaid-controlled Ceredigion council is the top performing council when it comes to recycling. This could not be done without the good will of Ceredigion residents.
Ceredigion and other Plaid Cymru-led councils are on target to reach the “zero waste” target by 2030. Our councillors will work to strengthen our communities. Local councils run by the Party of Wales avoid waste and protect the environment by recycling far more than councils run by other parties.
Where Plaid Cymru is in power, we have led the way, making it easier for residents to get rid of everything from plastic bottles to babies’ nappies in a safe, hygienic and environmentally friendly way.
Our vision for the future is to introduce policies that make it easy as possible for residents to recycle effectively, while minimising the amount of waste that is sent to landfill.
Yours etc,
Simon Thomas, Mid and West AM, Plaid Cymru Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Climate Change and Rural Affairs.
