My recent letter, although humorous in content, had a serious meaning. A man died because he had been ignored when calling for help.

I assume he, like me and many others, paid a lifetime National Insurance contributions and in that time hardly called upon the health service, now in old age at a time we most need it, it is being denied or we have to pay (i.e. social care).

This pandemic has brought further problems to us senior citizens.

Still those in power have no idea where and why this virus has come from.

I have been studying the progress of this virus and I have a theory how it got here. For many years the UK has had open unprotected borders, with people coming and going literally unchecked from places where tropical diseases breed in the heat.

There’s been more movement of people now since time began, and any disease can sneak in with these carriers unnoticed, then it is too late, which got me to thinking how this Covid got into our country.

You can bet your bottom dollar there have never been stringent health checks of people entering this or any other country.
