The most popular baby names for 2018 have been revealed - with a couple of surprises.
Across England and Wales, and in Wales as a whole, Oliver and Olivia were the most common names for babies born in 2018.
Olivia was also the most common girl’s name in Carmarthenshire and Powys.
The most common girl’s name in Ceredigion however was Lili, with five babies being given that name.
Megan was the most common name for girls born in Gwynedd while Florence took the top spot in Pembrokeshire.
For boys, Osian and Oliver proved the most popular names for babies in Ceredigion with six of each being born in 2018.
Noah and Oscar were the most popular names in Pembrokeshire, with Oliver claiming the number one spot in Carmarthenshire and Powys.
Caio and Tomos were the most popular names in Gwynedd with 14 of each being born last year.
Across England and Wales, there were 5,390 Olivers born last year, down from 6,259 the year before. George was second for boys with 4,960.
Olivia was the name of 4,598 baby girls, down from 5,204 but still ahead of Amelia in second, with 3,941.
Nick Stripe from the Office of National Statistics, who published the baby name lists this week, said: “Oliver and Olivia remained the most popular baby names in 2018, although there are the first signs that Oliver’s six-year reign as the number one name for boys is under threat.
"Arthur surged into the top 10 boys’ names for the first time since the 1920s, and Ada jumped into the girls’ top 100 for the first time in a century too, both perhaps inspired by characters in the BBC TV drama Peaky Blinders."
Grayson, Rowan and Tobias made their first appearance in the top 100, but not one Nigel was born in 2018.
Ada returned to the top 100 for the first time since 1924 while Delilah, Ayla and Margot made their first ever appearances.
