A HEARTBROKEN mother has shared her horrifying first-hand experience of the terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena.

Faye ap Geraint, who lives in Pennal and works at Aberystwyth University, was with her 11-year-old daughter Dharma at the Ariana Grande concert on Monday evening when tragedy struck.

The sickening atrocity saw 22 people killed, and 59 people injured, when 22-year-old Salman Abedi blew himself up in a suicide attack.

The blast happened in the foyer at approximately 10.30pm with the vast proportion of singer’s fanbase in their teenage years.

Faye, along with Dharma, was not harmed during the attack, but was shaken by the “unforgettable” events of that night.

Dolgellau’s deputy mayor Ywain Myfyr was also in the arena, along with his partner and her 12-year-old daughter.

Speaking on Tuesday, Faye said: “Somebody was watching over Dharma and I last night. We heard and saw the bomb blast. I lost Dharma in the crowds of people trying to get out and thank the Lord she waited at the top.

“My heart goes out to those who lost their life at Manchester arena. It was terrifying and we will never forget this.”

Faye went on to the describe the chaos in the arena: “There were no staff to be seen and people could not find their way out. People were hiding under seats, screaming and crying.”
