A SONG has been released in memory of an Aberystwyth University student who took his own life.
Pink Socks is by Jim Corbett, a former Aberystwyth student and friend of Stefan Osgood.
Stefan was found dead in his Penglais Farm student accommodation in March 2016. He was just 21 years old.
He was known for wearing pink socks when he played sport and the image inspired Jim to write Pink Socks.
“I’m pretty bad at speaking about things so it was a way of getting my thoughts across without having to speak,” Jim, 24, explained.
“It just seemed the right thing to do. It took about half an hour to write it about one or two weeks after [Stefan died] but I didn’t play it for another six months.”
Almost two years later, Jim, under the name CORBETT, has decided to release the song.
“It is the first song that has been released from my upcoming five-track debut EP. It was released as a single on 4 February, three days after Time To Talk Day.”
Time To Talk takes place on the first Thursday in February and has been organised nationally to encourage people to talk about mental health.
Pink Socks can be found on music sites including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Google Play and Deezer.
