I am pleased that the Welsh Government has seen sense and listened to those from across the political spectrum, calling for the library to be fairly funded.

The National Library of Wales is a national treasure and absolutely should be safeguarded and fairly and sustainably funded.

It provides invaluable resources and services; it preserves cultural and historical documents and it is an educational and community hub to the people of Ceredigion indeed it is an asset to the whole of Wales. Like many students in Aberystwyth, I relied on the National Library’s resources, in particular, when researching my dissertation. We must ensure that future generations of learners to come are able to access this wonderful gateway to information and learning

The WG must now ensure it puts in place a sustainable funding settlement to secure the library’s long-term future.
