A NATURE-loving schoolboy was delighted to meet his TV hero when he visited him in school.
Environmentalist and TV personality Iolo Williams is an inspiration to 10-year-old Llewelyn Parry who has watched, read and purchased everything the presenter has released.
Such is Llewelyn’s admiration for Iolo, that every time the naturalist is in north Wales, Llewelyn goes along to the event to say hello or to get a book signed.
At their last meeting in summer 2016, Llewelyn spoke to Iolo and invited him to his school, Ysgol Abererch.
Iolo agreed but no more was said about it.
That is until Llewelyn’s mother Cathryn received a call from the school saying that Iolo was making a special visit to the Llyn Peninsula primary school.
Cathryn said: “Llewelyn was very excited, he’s a big fan of Iolo.
“He’s got all his books and DVDs and has had a few things signed over the years.
“Llewelyn did invite him a to visit a couple of years ago and he said yes but we didn’t hear anything, and then this.
“He’s very good, he kept to his promise.”
It was a dream come true for Llewelyn.
“I like nature and bird watching too,” he said.
“Iolo is fantastic, he loves the same things I do. My favourite show was when he was exploring the Great barrier Reef in Australia.
“He came into our assembly and he was telling us all about his adventures all over the world.
“I also showed him around and told him about how Ysgol Abererch won the WWF Green Ambassador Award for sustainability project.
“I told him I was part of a group that encourages people to ride their bikes and scooters to school as well, that means less traffic and there’s less pollution.”
So did Llewelyn think Iolo was going to come to his school?
“He did say yes when I asked him but then I thought he wasn’t going to after a while,” admitted the enthused youngster.
“He kept his promise though.
“I think he is going to be coming back!”
