THE Ceredigion Nature Partnership was launched at Gwersyll Llangrannog.
The aim of the partnership is to conserve and enhance the wildlife in Ceredigion and to get more locals engaged with their local environment.
The CNP is a group which has taken over from the Local Biodiversity Action Plan, and is made up of various organisations including the National Trust, Natural Resources Wales and Tai Ceredigion.
In the past, the LBAP was involved in creating a Local Biodiversity Action Plan consisting of species and habitat action plans.
The LBAP comprised of organisations which all played a role in conserving the wildlife and habitats in Ceredigion. The CNP will continue this important work.
Emma Sharp, biodiversity assistant for Ceredigion County Council, said: “Ceredigion is a great place to experience wildlife and is a stronghold for the Marsh Fritillary butterfly, red kite and bottlenose dolphin to name only a few. We hope that this partnership will help connect more people and families with the wildlife on their doorstep.
“The launch was a great chance to see and share the great work that is taking place in the county for wildlife. I’d like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to making the day a great success.”
The group is looking for volunteers to donate a few hours a week to take part in conservation projects.
These projects will range from taking part in survey work as part of a Square Challenge to carrying out practical conservation work on Local Nature Reserves and Wildlife Sites. If you’re interested, contact Emma on 01545 572 139 or email [email protected].
