THE Royal British Legion is launching a new outreach service at Penparcau Forum Café aimed at members of the armed forces community past and present.

The first of these sessions will be held tomorrow from 10.30am, and will deliver advice and support to current service personnel, veterans and their families.

Running the sessions will be Juliet Price, the Royal British Legion’s advice and information officer.

Juliet, who was a resident of Aberystwyth until as recently as August, explained: “The aim of these sessions is to bring the Legion’s services closer to those who need it most.

“People can drop in and I’ll be available to discuss issues ranging from housing support to benefits to debt management, or any issue that they feel is affecting them as a member of the armed forces community.

“If the Legion are unable to help directly, I can help signpost you to other services or organisations that can help.”

Cllr Paul Hinge, Ceredigion Armed Forces Champion, welcomed the announcement of the event and encouraged former service personnel to go along.

“I would like to thank the Royal British Legion in Wales for their foresight in coming to Aberystwyth to open up this outreach opportunity,” he said.

“All I would ask is that if you have got something to talk about, please go along. You will have a warm welcome from people who will try their very best to help you.”
