Some of Ceredigion’s finest musicians will join forces next month to raise money for the National Eisteddfod.
Clarinetist Rhys Taylor and solo stars Non Parry Williams and Deiniol Wyn Rees will take to the stage at Aberystwyth Arts Centre in November to promote next year’s National Eisteddfod, which will be held in Tregaron.
Former Ysgol Penweddig pupil Rhys has produced a new arrangement of the 1980s rock album, Teilwng yw’r Oen, for the show.
Organised by the Aberystwyth and district appeal committee for the 2020 Ceredigion Eisteddfod, the special evening will be held on Saturday, 2 November, and organisers say that tickets are selling fast.
Megan Jones, chair of the appeal committee, said: “We have been very fortunate with the number and variety of events held in the area to raise funds for the eisteddfod and this evening again promises to be a very special and unique one.
"When we approached Rhys Taylor he was very willing to help and his arrangement of this popular musical piece will make for a wonderful evening.”
Established solo stars Non and Deiniol, along with narrator Meleri Morgan, will be ably supported by Ceredigion choirs Côrisma, Cardi-gân, ABC, Ger y Lli, Ysgol Gymraeg Aberystwyth and Ysgol Llanilar, all brought together under the musical direction of Rhys.
