Madam,

As I get older and suffer with my health, I make my journey to Machynlleth three miles from home as productive as possible - visiting the doctor, shopping, getting out cash, etc, at the same time.

I have just been into town midday Thursday (27 September) only to find I can’t get cash from anywhere.

The three cash points in town are empty. There is no cash anywhere as we no longer have a bank in town.

This can’t carry on. Is this a deliberate ploy to stop cash being used? I for one don’t trust using cards on the internet, etc, as we hear of so many scams. What is the world coming to?

Yours etc,

Stephen Smith, Tower Road, Pennal.
