AN ART installation inspired by north Wales will take centre stage at a Liverpool gallery next week.

As part of the city’s Biennial exhibitions, a festival of contemporary art, the Corke Gallery will feature a selection of paintings of contemporary and fine art paintings by members of the Meirionnydd Artists Society which show off their painting talents and abilities to represent people and places.

The exhibition features a diverse collection of painting styles in acrylics, oils, watercolours, pastels, gouache and mixed media as well as lino prints. Meirionnydd Artists Society members selected include Ann Butterworth, Ann Thomas, Glynis Lawson, Huw Lewis Jones, Jayne McCormack, Jean Napier, Ken Bridges, Oli Turnpenny, and Susan Arney.

Nic Corke, originally from Llanwrst, curator of the privately owned Corke Gallery which opened in 2010 said: “As a proud Welshman, I am delighted to bring this wonderful collection of work to Liverpool from north Wales.

“This has been a great opportunity for me to work with a group of artists whose passion for painting seems to know no bounds and their diverse range of styles and subject matter featured in the show will surprise and hopefully delight those who want to take a break away from some of the more challenging and questionable work that will no doubt be featured in the Liverpool Biennial.”

The exhibition is open from 6 to 22 July and entry is free; the gallery is open from 1pm to 5pm.
