Madam,

I have this week been reminded that Padarn Centre in Llanbadarn is now internally investigated by Ceredigion County Council as to how they are going to provide for those who visit every day of the week, adults with learning difficulties within the next six months. They are going through the same trauma as residents and staff at Bodlondeb.

On Saturday, in Penparcau I was informed by a close friend how her mother went from Hafan y Waun to Bronglais Hospital. (She is not now able to return to Hafan y Waun). The family has been to Carmarthen, Pembrokeshire, to find accommodation for her mother who they are unable to care for at home.

Why doesn’t Ceredigion have in place suitable homes for those who have dementia? We cannot send our responsibility to those who provide outside Ceredigion.

To those who police social care, visit Carmarthen and see how they provide care. I have been informed that Crymych has a facility, which is the way forward.

In Bodlondeb, which with enough qualified staff as in the past, this mother could be cared for 400 yards from her home.

I object to those councillors who agree with closing Bodlondeb before a decision is finalized and I am not on my own.

Yours etc

D Thomas,

Llwyn yr Eos, Southgate, Aberystwyth.
