Madam,
Our bank holiday weekend was a memorable one for all the wrong reasons.
My daughter came to stay for the weekend. We went out for a meal and in the early hours I was woken by my daughter who said she was having trouble breathing. She was having a reaction to something she had eaten.
My first thought was to give Piriton, which I always carry. It was having no effect. Her throat was in a bad way. I called the emergency services.
Her allergic reaction was that bad I couldn’t see the back of her throat. I suddenly remembered, half asleep, that I had stronger tablets for allergies in my handbag, which I gave straight away. These slowly, thank goodness, started working.
Paramedics arrived quickly. They did say that my daughter wouldn’t have made it to the hospital without the tablets that worked.
I can say I saved my daughter’s life but at the time it was hair-raising. And I have felt worse since; there are a lot of ‘what ifs’ going round in my mind.
I am still very grateful to the Welsh Ambulance Service, who came to assist my daughter in the very early hours.
Yours etc, Jean Miles, Harlech.
