Timewatch reader David Bath has sent these two images in to the Cambrian News.
“This is the corner of Bryn Mynach Road, Barmouth, today and in the 1890s,” he said.
“I reckon that’s 20 ‘on board’, including the chap with the posthorn on the right and seven onlookers. Quite a line-up. Did they ever make it to their destination?”
He went on: “By the way, the rules on a more conventional ‘stagecoach’ in the event of the vehicle leaving the road were:
• First class passengers – Stay where you are;
• Second class passengers – Get out and walk;
• Third class passengers – Get out and push.”
