OUTSTANDING green spaces in Dwyfor and Meirionnydd have been awarded coveted Green Flags.

Earlier this summer, Keep Wales Tidy unveiled this year’s Green Flag Award winners – the international mark of a quality park or green space.

Ynysmaengwyn in Tywyn was one of only two Gwynedd parks to receive the prestigious award, whereas the Dwyfor Gardening Project and Parc Blaenau Ffestiniog were the sole recipients of the community-awarded Green Flags.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Green Flag Award scheme, which is delivered in Wales by Keep Wales Tidy with support from Welsh Government.

It is judged by green space experts, who volunteer their time to visit applicant sites and assess them against eight strict criteria, including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvement.
