MEIRIONNYDD dog trainers and their canine companions have performed admirably at the world’s biggest dog show, Crufts.Trainers Sally Friswell and Ginny Davies took their pooches, Cocker Spaniel Wyn and Labrador Ben respectively to the NEC near Birmingham last Friday, 11 March for the prestigious awards show.It was an early start for humans and dogs alike leaving to get to the Exhibition Centre at 3am in time for their tests. Both dogs had been chosen from dogs all across the country to take part in Good Citizen Dog Scheme display at the show. The scheme is run by the Kennel club to promote responsible dog ownership and training. Ben and Wyn took part in a test and demonstration of achievement at Bronze standard.

Both dogs were assessed early in the day to ascertain whether they were both capable of taking the on the public demonstration later. Both behaved well and carried out the Bronze test with aplomb. Only four of the eight dogs being tested for the bronze test passed, showing the high standard expected at the tournament.

Sally, who runs Dysynni Dog training centre based in Arthog, said: “Wyn & Ben were truly awesome. “Especially coping in the environment of Crufts, only half of the dogs passed the test and the stays were the challenging part that caught people out. Both Wyn & Ben got their award and I couldn’t be prouder of them both.”
