HUNDREDS of people have signed a petition calling for Eldon Square to remain as Dolgellau’s bus hub.
Over recent months, bus services in the town have been the subject of much debate.
For many years, buses have used the square to pick up/drop off passengers but critics have suggested that too many buses arrive in the square at the same time causing congestion, pollution and an unsafe environment.
Others claim that Eldon Square is the ideal location for the buses as it is in the centre of town and keeps services accessible for the elderly and vulnerable.
Eirlys Roberts is one such advocate who believes that Gwynedd Council should invest in Eldon Square to improve the current facilities and has handed a petition to the local authority with 364 signatories supporting her notion.
The petition was handed to Gwynedd councillor Linda Morgan who agrees with Eirlys’ suggestion.
“My thanks go to Eirlys and her team for supporting the local bus users,” said Cllr Morgan.
