A Lampeter town councillor has attacked Ceredigion County Council’s response to her Freedom of Information request relating to the largest residential housing planning application ever submitted in the town.
Cllr Dinah Mulholland said she had hoped to view correspondence and communications relating to the application for 95 new homes and a new road at Maes y Deri.
“I wanted to see if there was anything that could help the Save Maes y Deri Field campaign,” she told the Cambrian News.
“I was surprised, as many local people are, at the scale of the application for 95 new homes in a town of this size.
“The application is completely out of kilter with the town’s capacity for local employment and services.
“One of the applicants had said to me that they had originally wanted to apply for a much smaller scale development, but that the council had advised them to apply for this much larger scale of development. I wanted to see what the truth of this was.
“However, the council has provided only four paltry emails, and their response was late. I have written to them again to prompt them to provide all the information I requested.
“They have not provided anything like the depth or history of information that I had expected from a planning application on this scale, for 95 homes.
“They are obliged to do this and I am looking forward to receiving the information I asked for.”
Ceredigion County Council said while it has been asked for an internal review in respect of an FoI request, it has no record of receiving an application from Cllr Mulholland.
Cllr Mulholland has since learnt her repeat request will now go to an internal review and she will get a response by 9 May.
