CONCERNS have been raised after developers behind a new retirement home in Pwllheli say they are now “considering their options” for the site.
McCarthy and Stone Retirement Lifestyles were given the go ahead by Gwynedd Council in April this year to create 17 one-bedroom apartments and 13 two-bedroom apartments, which would be catered for the over-60s, at the former veterinary building on land by Ala Cottage.
However, six months on there has been no movement at the site and advertising boards for the development have since been removed.
McCarthy and Stone Retirement Lifestyles would not confirm whether they have pulled out of bringing the retirement homes to the town but say they will keep residents up-to-date on any developments as they “consdier their options”.
Pwllheli town councillor, Jonathan Roberts, fears the site could be a danger to nearby residents with the buildings on the site becoming unstable.
He said: “The retirement homes development is being eagerly anticipated by the local community, not only to fill a need in the community for people who want to downsize, but also to tidy what has become a major eyesore in the town.”
